Men portraits Satish. Personal Photoshoot After a Big Transformation August 6th, 2017
Satish contacted me after a very important change in his life and in his body. Over the last few years, he lost more than 50 kilograms, and this photoshoot became a way to mark that achievement. In a sense, it was a photoshoot about personal transformation, confidence and a new stage of life.
Before this change, most of his old photos showed a completely different version of him. That is why this session was not just about taking new portraits. It was about creating a visual memory of a milestone, something he could look back on and say: this is where I am now.
A Photoshoot at the InterContinental Hotel
The photoshoot took place at the InterContinental Hotel. We started in the hotel room, then used the balcony and the villa area around it. After that, we walked through the hotel territory and used different quiet spots for more relaxed portraits.
This location worked well because it gave us several different backgrounds without making the session feel complicated. The hotel was located by the sea, with a beautiful view, so we could use both the interior spaces and the natural surroundings.
Simple Backgrounds and Natural Portraits
For this kind of personal photoshoot, the background does not need to be too busy. Simple walls, clean architectural lines, a balcony, a quiet path or a sea view can work much better than a location overloaded with details.
The main focus should stay on the person. With Satish, we used simple backgrounds and calm posing to create natural, relaxed photographs. Some frames were more direct portraits, while others felt more like quiet lifestyle moments.
Relaxed poses, for example standing near a wall, leaning slightly, looking away or simply being present in the space, can help reveal individuality without forcing the person into something artificial.
Why Light Matters in Outdoor and Indoor Portraits
Shooting outdoors gives very soft and diffused light, especially in shaded areas. This can be flattering and natural, but it also has one weakness: sometimes it becomes harder to create strong volume and depth on the face.
That is why I often use an additional indoor location during a portrait session. Natural window light can work like a large softbox. It gives the light a clear direction, shapes the face better and helps create more expressive portraits.
Each type of location has its own advantages. Outdoor areas give space, atmosphere and natural movement. Indoor window light gives control, depth and a more intimate portrait feeling. Combining both usually makes the final gallery stronger.
A Milestone Worth Remembering
One of the main goals of this photoshoot was to create a memory of Satish’s achievement. Losing more than 50 kilograms is not a small cosmetic change. It is a serious personal result that takes time, discipline and consistency.
Photos can become a marker of that change. They show not only how a person looks, but also how they feel in their new body. Confidence, posture and presence often change together with physical transformation.
A Calm and Personal Approach
This session was not about dramatic posing or showing off. It was more about calm confidence, simple backgrounds and natural portraits. The sea view, the hotel environment, the balcony, the villa area and the quiet outdoor spaces all helped create a relaxed mood.
My job during this kind of photoshoot is to choose the right light, suggest simple poses and help the person feel natural in front of the camera. The result should feel personal, not staged in a heavy or unnatural way.
