After discussing several options, they chose a famous viewpoint. It is a beautiful location, but it comes with one important detail: as soon as the morning begins, tourist buses start arriving. By late morning, it can be difficult to photograph there without people in every frame. That is why we chose sunrise.
Anesha and Ryan also brought small accessories for their future baby, including ultrasound photos. These details made the session feel more unique and meaningful. A sunrise photoshoot requires commitment. Everyone has to wake up early, leave home while it is still dark, and arrive before the city is fully awake. It is not the easiest plan. Sometimes people feel tired at the beginning, or need a few minutes to wake up and relax in front of the camera. But when it works, the advantages are hard to beat.
There were almost no people around when we started. The light was soft and gentle, and the city was still quiet. At first, the sun had not appeared yet. Then it slowly came over the horizon and changed everything. The warm morning light touched the buildings and added a beautiful, almost magical feeling to the photos.
For me, sunrise is often a better choice than sunset at popular Lisbon locations. There is more space, less pressure, and no need to spend time removing crowds from the background later. The result feels calmer and more personal.
