Back in July 2025, I spent three days in Sintra, that beautiful old corner just outside Lisbon, surrounded by some of the finest dogs you could hope to see. Friday was the "36.ª E. C. Monográfica de Terriers", Saturday the "42.ª E. C. Nacional de Sintra", and Sunday the "40.ª E. C. Internacional de Sintra" – all run by the Clube Português de Canicultura.

These aren't your average weekend pet shows. Every dog there was an exceptional example of its breed, judged under strict FCI rules, and you could feel the level of preparation the moment they stepped into the ring. I was there with my camera as a dog photographer in Lisbon, catching it all – the sharp focus in the handlers' eyes, the quick shake of a coat before a judge's glance, a wagging tail when no one was looking.

My photos aren't just about the stance or the perfect gait. I wanted the personality, the spark, the little moments you miss if you only watch the competition. From a terrier flying across the grass to a champion holding still like a statue, each shot carries the rhythm of Lisbon's biggest dog events and the effort that makes them happen.
